چکیده

Some assessments carried out to determine the period of time when viruses preserve their infective properties lack enough information about the environmental conditions. For instance, FITCHNER [5] affirms that during the Pennsylvania outbreak of a highly pathogenic avian influenza in 1983-1985, caused by a Н5N2 virus, the agent was detected in wet manure under field conditions after 105 days. UTTERBACK [11] concluded that the virus could be detected in concentrations up to 107.0 EID50/g and could survive for more than 44 days, but in both studies, the changes in ambient humidity and temperature were not reported although it could be assumed that variations were present.

Evaluation of a positive marker of avian influenza vaccination in ducks for use in H5N1 surveillance.

Control measures for H5N1 avian influenza involve increased biosecurity, monitoring, surveillance and vaccination. Subclinical infection in farmed ducks is important for virus persistence. In major duck rearing countries, homologous H5N1 vaccines are being used in ducks, so sero-surveillance using H5- or N1-specific antibody testing cannot identify infected flocks. An alternative is to include ...

Variation in the responses of wild species of duck, gull, and wader to inoculation with a wild-bird-origin H6N2 low pathogenicity avian influenza virus.

There is poor understanding of host responses to avian influenza virus (AIV) infection in wild birds, with most experimental studies using captive-bred birds and highly pathogenic AIVs that have an early endpoint. The objective of this study was to experimentally assess antibody responses and patterns of viral excretion in wild birds challenged with a low pathogenicity AIV. Ruddy turnstones (Ar...

Evaluation of Echinococcus granulosus coproantigens by Dot-blotting in dogs

Definitive hosts of the Echinococcus granulosus (E. granulosus ) parasite are carnivores such as dogs, wolves and foxes. Detection of this parasite through faecal examination is not possible. In this study, dotblotting test for E. granulosus -specific coproantigens has been evaluated in dog. Three 2–3-month-old puppies were treated with piperazine and then faecal samples were collected as pre-in...

Evaluation of H9N2 avian influenza virus dissemination in various organs of experimentally infected broiler chickens using RT-PCR

Widespread occurrence of H9N2 low pathogenic avian influenza (LPAI) viruses in many Asian countriesduring the past decade has resulted in the need for evaluation of the pathogenesis of H9N2 virus infection. In this study, tissue tropism and dissemination of A/Chicken/Iran/772/1998(H9N2) virus throughout the body of broiler chickens were investigated. The clinical signs, gross lesions and antibo...
